JOHN S. JONES– Site Supervisor

The recipient of the “Spirit of Detroit Award,” John Jones has literally built his entire career on that age old adage, “I am my brother’s keeper.” A high energy, fiscally conscious and goal-driven individual, John approaches each new challenge with his intrinsic flair for innovation, creative problem-solving, and measured risk-taking to drive consistent development of high quality programming. John Jones began his career on a path towards computer information systems. Having earned his Associates Degree from Macomb Community College and going on to Central Michigan University studying Community Development, John’s goal was to complement his natural technical savvy with a strong foundation in working in the non-profit sector. The best way to accomplish this was to join a large non-profit in south-eastern Michigan. Thus, in 1990, he accepted his first major position with Wellness Networks of Ferndale, MI (now known as APM) where he gained extensive experience and earned promotions to Education and Prevention Manager/Systems Administrator. Recognized as a high-potential administrator, in 1996, John’s career took another leap forward when he was invited to provided leadership for a City administered Re-Entry program, with a annual budget of 300k. Under John’s guidance, the Re-Entry program was recognized as one of the “TOP” three re-entry program’s in the country and John and selected staff were invited to Denver, CO to present its’ program’s finding on the national stage; The National Prevention Network Conference, sponsored by SAMSHA. Today, John Jones reside with his wife in Detroit, MI. With (4) adopted children and (3) children in foster care. While open to opportunities, he has focused his energies on helping to deliver the highest quality product that Jabez can delivery.
